B17 BOMBER CREW

42-39823 TU-O

and all the Airmen of WWII.

42-39823 TU-O was a B-17G  during WWII.  The crew was stationed with the "Mighty 8th" 8th Air Force, 351st Bomb Group, 510th Squad during World War II.  Stationed at Polebrook, England, the crew was shot down over France on December 31, 1943.  Of the ten men aboard, seven were captured, while three evaded enemy capture, eventually to escape to Spain.

Recently, I was lucky enough to become friends with one of these crewmen.  F. E. "Earl" Anderson was the flight engineer and one of the three to evade capture.  As I got to know him, I listened with fascination as he told the stories of a war long ago and the heroism of the men who fought it.  This site is dedicated to the crew of 42-39823 TU-O and all of the Allied airmen who gave their lives for their countries defending freedom.

May we never forget what they have done.
